Arran On A Plate

Opened in March 2010, Arran On A Plate is a family-run restaurant based on the waterfront of Brodick on the Isle of Arran.

Frecosse were asked to produce a corporate identity, business cards, signage for the building and a website that would complement the Fine Dining experience provided by Arran's only British Masterchef.

The restaurant's name was quite specific, and led us to design a plate in the shape of the Isle of Arran. The silver cutlery was chosen to hint at the silver-service table service enjoyed by diners.

The sprig of thistle was used to add some colour to the logo, and the green/purple of the thistle were adopted as the official colours of the restaurant. The thistle can also be replaced with other iconography for special occasions, such as Christmas (see the Christmas E-mail below).

In the months leading up to the launch, the website was used to generate interest in the restaurant, before switching to it's current appearance in March 2009.

The restuarant's website was designed to be easy to navigate and quickly imparts information about Arran On A Plate to visitors.

Our Content Management System provides all the tools required for restaurant staff to keep this site up-to-date. Customised modules were built to allow for easy maintenance of their wine list, and the site can even generate their daily menus.

With the logo and website designed, it was time to design some matching business cards.

While the logo is printed in full colour, we felt that it best to limit the card text to just white and one of the corporate colours, in this case the green.

We set up the artwork for the building signage and a tombstone sign at the end of the restaurant's drive on the shore-front road.

Unfortunately on our recent visits to Arran, the weather has always been inclement, and we don't have any decent quality pictures of this signage.

Over the last few years we've set up several newspaper and magazine advertisements for Arran On A Plate.

We set up a standard template for in-house use for daily menus, and have also designed and printed à la carte menus for Arran On A Plate in a variety of sizes, including those for use in the window.

For the wine-list we created a module for their website, that allows for easy addition/removal and sorting of wines and beverages, which both creates an online page of information, and can be downloaded as a printable PDF for their day-to-day needs.

As well as a module built into the Content Management System, that allows Arran On A Plate to send out regular personalised text-only e-mails to subscribers, we occasionally set up a fancier HTML-rich e-mail to be sent out for key events.
